Happy 10th Birthday Marciano!

Did you know that it's been 10 years since Marciano first opened? It feels like it was just yesterday that I walked into the new Marciano store at my local mall. I can't believe that it's been a full decade since it doesn't really seem like any time has passed since then. It's nice to see that they've stayed true to their aesthetic and haven't strayed from their authentic style in order to adapt to quickly every changing trends.

Happy 10th Birthday Marciano!
In true GUESS and Marciano fashion, they threw a lavish birthday party to celebrate their milestone. I was invited to their 10th anniversary at the newly renovated location in the Eaton Centre (did you know that they moved to a different location in the mall?) and had so much fun meeting other bloggers as well as getting a pair of fake lashes applied. No blogger party is complete without a photobooth, and Marciano did not disappoint. I met up with some friends from UB, and we snapped a couple of photos together before nibbling on the hors d'oeuvres and trying on pieces from their new collection. I know where I'll be at for my NYE outfit in the upcoming weeks!

And since NYE is already coming up in about 3 weeks, I've already gotten a head start no the outfit which I plan on wearing that night. If you know me, then you'll know that one of my favorite mottos is that "You can never be too prepared.", and that being ahead of time allows me to be thorough.

Now these dresses may not be everyone's cup of tea, but how can I say no to some sequin and glitz? I don't often wear something as flashy as this, and if there ever is an appropriate time, I'd say that it's NYE. If plans happen to materialize, here are some of my picks for the night:

Happy 10th Birthday Marciano!
  1. Anya ($248.00) - Coordinates have been extremely popular this year, and if you've kept to your New Year's resolution of staying fit since 2013, then this dress will be the perfect one to show off your toned and fit abs.
  2. Tiffany ($228.00) Okay, so maybe your focus wasn't abs. That's okay, we all have different goals. One of mine was to squat at least a plate (hey, I'm fairly petite so a plate is a lot for me). If you'd rather show off your killer pair fo legs, then the striated sequins will pull the focus to the lower half of your body instead.
  3. Julia ($228.00) - If baring some skin isn't you goal, why not show off your svelt figure in this patterned sequin dress? Plus it keeps in trend with the mesh lower half that exposes a bit of skin without you actually pull of the Angelina Jolie side slit.

Have you picked out an outfit for NYE yet?

A Change in Pace

Last week, I took the plunge of a lifetime for myself. I accepted an internship, packed up my belongings and moved from Ottawa to Toronto. The city 5 hours away from my home town is my new home for the next several of months. And if things go according to plan, hopefully my new and permanent home.

I've always loved Toronto and the fast paced atmosphere it's downtown core offers. Compared to corporate Ottawa, Toronto has that and so much more to offer me. With a large majority of the nation's creative core located in this city, I'll finally have the chance to expand my blog and experience in the field of social media.

With the move, I've had to say goodbye to my close friends, family and boyfriend. But the 5 hour drive away won't stop me from going home often to visit them. So far, I have trips planned for every 2-3 weeks to return home and visit my loved ones. The next one being next weekend, you can be sure I'm more than excited to see my family and friends. It definitely was hard the first couple of nights, but my loving boyfriend accompanied me here for the move and was able to stay with me for a couple of days. He helped me unload my belongings and reassured me that everything would be ok. At first I thought that the worst part would be adjusting from seeing him everyday to seeing him once every 2-3 weeks. I quickly realized that the moments we get to spend together would be much more appreciated this way and that our time together would be sweeter. In about a week I'll be able to see him again and everyday I wake up feeling giddy knowing that I'm one day closer.

For the time being, we stay in touch mainly through iMessage and Skype. Even though we're 5 hours away from each other, we'll always be connected. Here's how my past week in Toronto has been through a recap of my Instagram.

  1. Enjoying a bowl of ramen with friends the afternoon before I was truly to be on my own in Toronto
  2. A night out with the significant other a couple weeks before while arranging my future stay in the new city
  3. Enjoying creature comforts, well at least my creature comforts (love me some macarons!)

  1. My favorite go to sandwhich when I'm trying to stay healthy. Is anyone interested in a recipe?
  2. I lightened my hair for the summer quite a few weeks ago
  3. Literally today's outfit, plus a cute new gift from work! Thanks guys!

  1.  I'm now obsessed with cold-pressed juicing but it's so expensive! Doe anyone else have more affordable alternatives in the city?
  2. Spent an entire day strolling the harbor front with the significant other and another couple, one of the more entertaining days I've had in awhile
  3. Millie's Creperie is hands down the best crepe shack in the city!
