Slipping Into Silk

There's something about wearing silk that feels so luxurious. The cold stillness against your skin, the flutter of fabric with each move, the whisper of sliding in unison in tune to your movements. I don't think there's any fabric that I appreciate more than silk. It's also ridiculously easy to style, paired down casually with a cardigan or finished with a structured blazer, it's definitely a staple textile in my closet. I've got quite a few silk pieces and I think that because of its versatility that I enjoy it so much. The only fault is the care that it requires. But if I'm going to be investing that much into a piece that's also going to be giving back just as much, I might as well put just as much care into it.

You wouldn't have guessed it, but this top is actualy a silk slip that I once shied away from styling because I felt that it was too reminiscent of a night gown. But with the resurgence of lingerie wear this year and coupled with a smart twist, I was able to turn this nightwear-esque top into a semi-presentable and work-approriate one.
